Japan

The Matsumae International Foundation (MIF) has announced a fully funded exchange program for international students, offering fellowships for a duration of three to six months. PhD degree holders from Bangladesh and other countries around the world are eligible to apply. The application deadline is June 30, 2026.

Under this exchange program, priority will be given to research in the fields of Natural Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. A total of 15 researchers from different countries, including Bangladesh, will be awarded the fellowship.

Selected fellows will have the opportunity to choose a university, national research institute, or recognized private research institution in Japan to conduct their research. All expenses will be covered by the Matsumae International Foundation.


Benefits

  • Monthly stipend of 220,000 Yen (approximately BDT 172,397)

  • Additional allowance of 120,000 Yen (approximately BDT 94,034)

  • Round-trip airfare to and from Japan

  • Study tour expenses

  • Medical allowance and health insurance coverage


Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must hold a PhD degree

  • Must be under 45 years of age

  • Japanese nationals are not eligible

  • Must have an invitation letter from a host institution in Japan

  • Must be proficient in English or Japanese

  • Must not have previously stayed in Japan for purposes other than travel

  • Must be professionally engaged in their home country and committed to returning after the fellowship to contribute to national development

  • Completed application form (prescribed format)

  • Research proposal

  • At least one published research paper

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  • Letter of recommendation

  • Academic certificates

  • Invitation letter from a Japanese host institution


Application Process

Applicants must download the prescribed application form and complete it in English by typing. The completed form, CV, and all required documents must be submitted together via email to: application@mif-japan.org

The email size must not exceed 10 MB.

Application Deadline: June 30, 2026.
